Beam Engineering for Advanced Measurements Corporation (BEAM Co.) has been founded in 1996 by world renown scientists Dr. Nelson Tabiryan (OSA Fellow, NIAC Fellow, Frederiks Medal, the American Chemical Society’s Cooperative Research Award) and Boris Zeldovich (OSA Fellow, Max Born Award). The company pioneered and is leading the development of the Fourth Generation Optics technology that constitutes a major revolution in optics by making possible obtaining lensing, deflection, beam shaping and all other variety of optics and photonics components and devices, switchable and fixed, in thin planar films that can be produced inexpensively in a green manufacturing process, even in very large area, bringing up also the era of custom optical components with same day delivery. Unlike metasurfaces, the 4G optics has practically 100% efficiency in broad spectral bands, applicable from UV to MWIR as well as LWIR and THz. All 4G optical components are clear as glass, allow anti-reflection for further throughput enhancement and, being as thin as single micrometers, can be stacked for producing complex functions. Thin and ultralight nonmechanical switchable beam steering, focusing, shaping, and spectral tuning functions, among others, are currently underlying a breakthrough in all modern technologies, including AR/VR and adaptive ophthalmic lenses, LiDARs, optical communication; ultralight optics for space applications; laser material processing; astronomy, etc.
