The first International Topical Meeting
on Optics of Liquid Crystals (OLC) took place in 1986 (Naples, Italy)
triggered by the discovery of novel nonlinear optical processes in LC.
That meeting evolved into a major biannual event for people involved
in all aspects of optics of LCs and it grew with increasing importance
of LC materials for optical technologies. OLC meetings are distinguished
by being focused on optics of liquid crystals, attracting science and
industry leaders, and providing abundant opportunities for socializing
and informal discussions. The legacy of OLC meetings constitute a breeding
ground for new ideas, new collaborations, new friendships. |
